Team Building Venues
When picking your team building programme, it is also important to ensure that you have the right venue that is suitable to run your activity of choice. You should consider whether your next team building event should be held outdoor (in the sun), outdoor (in a sheltered area), or indoor (such as a ballroom or even your office’s conference room). It is without a doubt that outdoor programmes usually have more hype since it exposes your teams to external elements such as the weather and the public’s curious stares! Here are the 3 most popular team building venues that our clients tend to select for their event.

Here are some things you should consider before selecting your next team bonding activity in Singapore!
EAST COAST PARK TEAM BUILDING
Consider Your Attendees
Number of Pax
The first thing you must consider for Team Building Singapore is without a doubt, your attendees! Start off with an estimate of how many of your colleagues will be attending this team building event. Having an exact number is impossible but you should at least have a range (for example, 50-70 pax). It may also be useful for you to think in terms of teams instead of number of attendees. For example, 10 teams instead of 100 attendees. This helps you plan better and also allows you to get a more accurate quote from your team building games provider.
What is the age range of your attendees? Are they mostly men or women? What about their culture? Are they going to be mostly Singaporean, or will you have expats in the group? Most teams are made up of a diverse group of participants, ranging between the ages of 20 to 60 years old. It is important to ensure that the activity you choose is suitable for such diversity in order to encourage more of your colleagues to attend.
It is also important for you to think about the character of the group in general. Is this event going to be organised for a sales team, or for the finance team? Will they be more outgoing or introvert? Do they usually look forward to such corporate events or will they dread it the moment you send out the calendar invitation? Many team building participants find it a chore to attend such corporate off-site events, but if you market this event internally prior to confirming with your team building partners, you’ll be able to expect a higher turn-up!
Many companies organise Team Building Singapore activities for their staff, followed by a company dinner, as a form of reward for a job well done. If this is the case for your company, consider picking an activity that has more “fun” element to it. Of course, picking an activity purely for fun is not the most effective way to spend your team building budget. Remember to ask your team building company to incorporate elements of teamwork and cohesion.
Most employees spend 6-8 hours per day in the office, in front of their computers. Companies may organise team building events like Versagility to give their staff an opportunity to get out of the office every once in awhile. If this is the desired outcome you are looking for, having a corporate sports day or even an outdoor heritage race would certainly meet your needs.
Training is usually seen as a boring, off-site activity for professionals in Singapore. If you’ve formed a new team, or restructured an existing team, it is important to build camaraderie and teamwork amongst the members. Such desired outcomes usually include reinforcing the importance of teamwork, communication and sometimes, healthy competition. Training can also incorporate fun team building games and activities in order to make the entire event more interesting and encourage a higher participation rate amongst your colleagues.
Organising a teambuilding event may not necessarily be rocket science if you know exactly what you (or your bosses) want, but neither is it a walk in the park.
When planning for your event and looking for a professional team to organise it for you, you should consider all the points we’ve listed and ask if the companies you’ve selected to run your corporate team building activities have considered these points.
Many event companies in Singapore list team building as a service, but may not have the necessary experience, programmes or activities to fulfil your requirements. To ensure that you have a successful outcome with a positive return on investment, it is important to look at the big picture and ask yourself if your selected event company is able to provide a holistic experience!
Our experience from working with close to 1,000 companies (and counting!) in Singapore for their team building events allows us to understand and predict the questions and challenges you’ll face before you do. Having an experienced Team Building Singapore events co-ordinator provide you with the right advice, especially the best way to efficiently deploy the budget you’ve fought so hard for, is essentially the best value you can get in return for engaging an external team building company to assist you in running your next corporate team bonding activities in Singapore.
Most frequent questions and answers about Team Building
While there is no evidence that frequent participation in a team building activity will have any positive effects in the workplace, but without teamwork and a strong camaraderie, businesses will not be able to operate efficiently to deliver maximum value to its shareholders and customers. In other words, while we cannot proof any positive upside, there is also no downside to organising team building activities for your company!
Every team building programme is different and reaps different benefits. Collaborative team building programmes build teamwork, forces participants to enhance their communication skills, and work together towards a common goal in a short amount of time (usually 3-4 hours). During a competitive team building programme, participants are often encouraged to give their all to the team that they are in, in order to emerge as winners. Nobody likes to lose!
Participants often come together to a team building programme with different expectations. Depending on the programme you select, participants may work together to complete a group task, compete against other teams in a competitive team building programme, or even do some charity work with a CSR team building programme.
Skills derived from a team building programme are also known as learning outcomes. These could be improved communication, recognising strengths and weaknesses, gaining new problem solving skills, and many more. Most importantly, participants often learn the importance of having fun while building teamwork, and that positive reinforcement is usually one of the biggest takeaways of a good team building programme.
