Interview Series - Goh Xiu Ming 1

In this interview series, we interviewed Goh Xiu Ming on how she’s doing to cope with this work from home period.

ASL, please!
Xiu Ming: 28, F, Boon Keng

What are some things you must have when working from home?
Xiu Ming:
Mobile phone & earpiece (duh!)
– Mega huge planner with colorful highlighters
– Water bottle filled with icy cold water (gotta hydrate after countless virtual meetings in a day right?)
– MY CAT 😀 (helps to destress)

How do you separate your personal time from working time now that you are working from home?
Xiu Ming: I make sure I do take my one-hour lunch break in between the pile of jobs by setting an alarm clock to remind myself. Apart from that, I have a To-Do list which I will manage my schedule accordingly and take a short break after completing each task.

What are you wearing today? (Take a picture!)
Xiu Ming: Sorry, no picture haha! But I’ve been working in my PJs and comfortable in it (not guilty though!). Save me the hassle to iron my work attires. 😉

Given a choice, do you prefer working from home or working in an office?
Xiu Ming: In terms of flexibility wise, I do like working from home. It saves me the time commuting to and fro office and home which definitely saves the transportation fee, and need not have to worry about the morning and evening peak hours being squeezed in the train cabin!
Well, I guess apart from the flexibility and cost-saving from WFH, ultimately I do wish and prefer to be working from the office instead. Things I miss working from the office are the unlimited blasting of air condition and of course, being in the office with colleagues and working together makes communication much easier!
